The book in question is Soulbath Hall, a novel first published here in serial form (Heering & Will Key). It is about an ‘experienced mental patient’ whose addiction therapy, although successful, nevertheless leads him into other dependencies and compulsions. Perennially nervous, he finds the world more wrong-headed than himself. It has turned its back to him. Withdrawal into words may be his lonely last resort. The first chapter is included here, along with a preview and a blurb.
